Emma Daley has always joined the Landers for Christmas since her family is overseas in Africa helping with a mission. But this year, the Landers from Arizona have agreed to swap houses with a family from Colorado. Since Emma cannot pass up the opportunity to see snow for the first time, she agrees to spend Christmas with the Landers in Colorado.
West did not sign up to swap his house for Christmas, but his stepfather came up with this grand scheme. When West misses his flight from Colorado to Arizona to meet-up with his family for Christmas, he gets caught at home by the Landers. Quickly, he comes up with a story about being the caretaker. After meeting Emma, West feels drawn enough to this girl to see if she could be the one for him.
My Thoughts:
This story moves quickly, and I actually read it in a day. That's pretty quick considering I'm a mom of 3 kiddos. Melody's stories remind me of hallmark movies. They are sweet, romantic and short. This is great if you're looking for something that is a fun, and easy read. I thought that the story was cute, and I liked the characters. Emma and West had likeable personalities, contrasted with Mrs. Landers and Gllian, Emma's longtime friend. These two ladies could complain, grumble and use people like professionals. They were definitely the Scrooges of the story. One thing that I didn't like was that the story ended so abruptly. I would have liked a little more closure, but I guess that is where your imagination must complete the story line for you.
If you're looking for a cute, short story to pick up and read for this Christmas season, pick up Melody's new book and be whisked away to the mountains of Colorado and a budding, winter romance.
