On Wings of Devotion by Roseanna M. White (The Codebreakers book 2)

On Wings of Devotion by Roseanna M. White is out! This book continues the story of the codebreakers in Room 40 as they do their best to help the war effort. Find out below why I think this is such a great series.

From the Back Cover:
Against every warning, she's drawn ever closer to the man known as "Black Heart."

All of England thinks Major Phillip Camden a monster--a man who deliberately caused the deaths of his squadron. But he would have preferred to die that day with his men rather than be recruited to the Admiralty's codebreaking division. The threats he received daily are no great surprise and, in his opinions, well deserved.

As nurse Arabelle Denler observes the so-dubbed "Black Heart," she sees something far different: a hurting man desperate for mercy. And when their families and paths twist together unexpectedly, she realizes she has a role to play in his healing--and some of her own to do as well.

With Camden's court-martial looming, an old acquaintance shows up, intent on using him in a plot that sends the codebreakers of Room 40 into a frenzy. With their fragile hopes for the future in the cross hairs, Arabelle and Camden must hold on to hope--and to each other--if they want to survive.

My Thoughts:
On Wings of Devotion continues the dramatic story of every day citizens doing their part to end the first world war. Phillip Camden is first introduced in the series first book, The Number of Love. You can read my review of this first book by clicking here.  I'm glad that Roseanna decided to tell Phillip's amazing story in this second book. He was quite the mystery. Phillip's character is rough around the edges and will take a special kind of person to break through that tough-guy exterior.  The heroine, Arabelle Denler, is just the person needed to help Camden face the tragedy that he went through with his men, but she too has deep issues that must be dealt with. These characters have quite the conversations when put together. Their clever banter back and forth will make you smile. I loved their interactions! The plot to this story unfolded beautifully to keep the reader from wanting to put the down. This definitely was a tumultuous time in history and that makes for a great story!

If you're looking for a fun, action-packed, WWI adventure, pick up The Codebreakers series. I thoroughly enjoyed it!  But in my opinion, you will most likely want to read Roseanna's Shadows Over England series first since many of the characters show up in the Codebreakers series.

My Rating: ★★★★★
