My Prayer Journey by Ink & Willow

 

Waterbrook and Multnomah have released a new gift product line called Ink & Willow. My Prayer Journey is a 52 week guided journal meant to aid your time with God. The pages are beautiful and filled with many helps to guide you in your journey to a more consistent and deeper time in prayer. This book begins with ten pages of a prayer request log to record your requests and answers to prayer. Each week has three sections that you can fill out: "What am i thankful for...", "I am worried about...", and "I am praying for..." Scattered throughout the journal are various ideas to help you learn how to pray better that include: scripture meditation, discovering the practice of prayer, and the story behind some well-known hymns. I think that this journal definitely looks like one that will accomplish what it is meant to do in helping you in your prayer life.  This book isn't just another burden to fill out, but a beautiful book that will inspire you in your prayer journey.

A Portrait of Loyalty by Roseanna M. White

The third book in Roseanna M. White's series The Codebreakers has released! A Portrait of Loyalty picks up the story in late February 1918 as the world heads toward the conclusion of World War I in November 1918. This time the author brings in a Russian to the codebreaker team.

 My Thoughts:

Like Roseanna's other books in this series, A Portrait of Loyalty also has a great story. The story took me back to a tumultuous time in history and gave me a glimpse of what life was like during the first world war.  The codebreakers are facinating to me. It's amazing the way they can solve puzzles with code and language so quickly. This series also mentions the Bolshevik Revolution which I thought was a great addition to the historical scene. The Russians were having their own battles that they were facing during this time too. And can you honestly have a spy book without having a Russian make an appearance? Of course not! This story will pull at your heartstrings so be prepared for that. Not everything is all roses especially with the sudden appearance of the Spanish Flu. A timely story for this point in our own history. Of course, our illness in 2020 is not to the vast effect that the Spanish Flu had on the world.
